The Islamic-American Zakat Foundation is the first national Islamic charitable organization in the Washington Metropolitan Area devoted to primarily to helping poor and needy in America. Established thirty-nine years ago to help collect the obligatory Islamic Zakat and Sadaqa and distribute it to the needy, destitute, and homeless, we have helped thousands of eligible applicants with their rent, electric and gas bills, and medical needs. We now employ three case managers through “The Medina Program” to help applicants with budgeting, social problem solving and referrals so that they may become self-sufficient in the future. Some of the beneficiaries also have become Zakat givers! Join us in celebrating thirty-nine years of demonstrating to our American community what Islam is really about, not through words, but through action.
Directions: From Beltway, take Wisconsin Ave. towards Bethesda; after 1 mile turn left onto Montgomery Ave, paid parking is available in the Waverly Street parking garage on your left at the corner of Montgomery Ave and Waverly Street.
